Rich 20 Something by Daniel DiPiazza Book Review

Rich 20 Something Book Review

Covered in his glowingly popular book are inspiring “how to's” that every entrepreneur comes across. Being an entrepreneur isn't an easy path to take, but it sure has its benefits and rewards when following a proven process.

That process along with amazing strategies and techniques to grow a loyal following and increase your income is shown in Rich 20 Something by Daniel DiPiazza.

What You Will Learn From Reading Rich 20 Something

Building an online business sounds like the dream life to most. Not having a boss to work for, work your own hours, create a blog or ecommerce website selling whatever you want, all sounds like the ideal business model. Throw into that the fact that most online businesses don't require you to hold inventory, take no prior experience and can be done all from the convenience of your laptop. Sound enticing? It is, but it doesn't come without its fair share of hard work.

It takes time and patience to build your business

Most people who decide they want to start a blog, website or ecommerce store get the exciting feeling of the potential it has. And they should, because the potential is real! However, it is often mistaken for a get-rich-quick strategy, causing many people to quit just after a few weeks or months of work. They get impatient and frustrated wondering why they haven't made any money after just a few weeks or months. That is their first mistake, according to Daniel DiPiazza in Rich 20 Something.

An inspiring and hopeful insight Daniel illustrates is that all it takes is literally one person to share your blog post or product to their social media following to generate thousands of visits and multiple sales. The hard truth is, it takes often times even years before your idea, concept or product actually sticks and spreads like wildfire. Once that happens, out of nowhere it seems like an overnight success.

With this idea in mind, Daniel DiPiazza illustrates this concept along with multiple strategies of how to keep working toward your business growth, and explains some of his firsthand experiences that lead to his success online.

Competition isn't a bad thing

Competition is often looked at as a bad thing. Many entrepreneurs that are looking for their niche market think that a large amount of competition equates to a saturated market. While that may be partially true, what you will also learn in Rich 20 Something is that competition and saturation also indicate a hot market and a large audience.

If someone is making money in that market, then that's a sign that there is money to be made in that market. All you have to do is find out how to create a product or service that is even better than the competition, and persistently market your brand. As mentioned in the previous heading, with a little bit of time its inevitable that you will grow a loyal following and an industry changing company.

How to stay ahead of the curve with your business

One of my favorite analogies used by Daniel DiPiazza in Rich 20 Something, is his metaphor using the TV series “The Walking Dead”. If you haven't seen the television series, its basically about how a major disease is spread globally, resulting in a “zombie apocalypse”. There are few survivors from the disease, but the series is about how these human survivors survive the zombie apocalypse. As the story progresses, the find out that the real problem among the survivors isn't the Zombies, but it's themselves.

When it comes to life and death, people will do crazy things they never thought would happen. What once was normal, is no longer “normal.”

Daniel DiPiazza uses this illustration to describe the concept that you cannot keep the same mindset and use the same strategies that were at one point working, otherwise you will find yourself failing at business. Just as what used to work among the surviving humans among the zombies, they find that as circumstances change, so do their defense strategies to stay alive. This concept is very similar today in the entrepreneur and business world.

If you want to stay above water and make it as an entrepreneur, you have to move with what is working, and be OK with an ever-changing market and with ever-changing technology.

The best way to begin your entrepreneur journey

In Rich 20 Something, the idea of creating multiple streams of income is heavily discussed. One of the easiest ways, and in the opinion of Daniel DiPiazza (and my personal opinion as well), to get started as an entrepreneur creating multiple streams of income is through doing freelance work.

Why should anyone be dependent upon just one stream of income? Cars have a spare tire, most families save for an emergency fund financially, but why do we depend on just one source of income? We shouldn't. And the best way to start another income stream is by marketing your expertise through freelance work. Among the many other topics discussed about freelancing, Rich 20 Something will teach you the following:

  • How to pick a freelance niche
  • Why freelancing is the best starting point to scale your entrepreneurial spirit
  • The 3 questions that determine a niche opportunity

Many online entrepreneurs began their journey through freelancing. If you are a blog, you could create a freelance profile with Fiverr or UpWork and get paid to write articles, blog posts and news reads about a topic you are an expert in. If you are a graphic designer, take your expertise to the market and do side work in your spare time for small businesses needing a graphic designer.

Whatever you do, the easiest way to get started as an entrepreneur is by starting to make extra money doing freelance work in your spare time. It provides extra capital that may be needed to start your online business, and it helps get your name and reputation out, along with added practice and expertise.
