When I first started building websites and creating content, my biggest question that I always had was how to get traffic to my site. Jeez…with billions of websites out there, how do I get mine known?

Well, with time and the knowledge I've gained from experience, I've come up with a few easy things that every website builder or content creator should know. I'm going to show you a couple tricks on how to increase your website traffic with keywords.

How to increase website traffic with keywords

Understanding how to increase website traffic with keywords is extremely important since we live in a world where most people use keywords and search engines to reach the content they want. So, if you find the right keywords, you will have a major advantage in your hands. It all comes down to using all those keywords the right way, and we are here to help you do just that!

How to pick the best keywords

When you want to get the best keywords, you will have to keep in mind that this does require a lot of time and commitment. However, there are many tools that you can use in order to find which keywords deliver the most performance. For more info on my recommended tool for keywords follow this link.

There are a few things to look for when researching keywords. I recommend following that link above before reading on, and creating your free account, then come back here and I'll show you what to look for so you can follow along.

Now that you have your free account set up, here are a few items to make sure you are aware of:

  • QSR – this is referring to how many competitors you will have with that particular keyword. If you are just starting out writing content, or your website is fairly new, you want to look for keywords that have below 100 competitors (or QSR).
  • Traffic – this column is referring to the estimated amount of traffic you may see from this particular keyword. Obviously, the higher the traffic the better. Keep in mind that you still want a low QSR below 100 as well.
  • AVG. – This is referring to the number of searches for that keyword per month. Again, the higher this number the better. More searches equal more traffic!

Now those acronyms's are found in my recommended keyword tool, but when using any keyword tool you want to pay attention to the same concept (although other keyword tools may have different acronym's for the respective metric). In a nutshell, you want a high amount of searches, a high amount of estimated traffic, with the lowest competition possible.

If you can find keywords that fit that description, you've got a winner!

Once you identify what the best keywords are, it will surely be a whole lot easier to increase your website traffic, and the results couldn’t be better because of that. Create a keyword database to make sure that you use them adequately, and results will surely be outstanding in the end.

Use the keywords inside your content

And by content, we mean just about everything you publish. Be it a social media update, a YouTube video description, your blogs, website content, you should use your keywords anywhere you can. Make sure that you don’t repeat them too often, as this can bring in issues with Google and other search engines. However, using a good set of keywords and keyword variations can definitely be a very good idea in this regard.

Create a Google AdWords campaign

Another way to use keywords for traffic is to create an AdWords campaign. Sure, this is a paid promotion, but it does allow you to get a ton of traffic thanks to keywords. Again, it’s crucial to make sure that you invest the right amount of money and focus on getting the right keywords. If you don't use the best keywords, then your campaign may not work the way you expect it.  These guys will show you how to maximize AdWords for success.

Add keywords in your page title, page description, and Meta tag

All of these are places that are searched very often by search engine spiders. So, you want to make sure that Google and other search engines identify your keywords as fast as possible. Integrating the most important keyword in these locations will help you rank high in search engines, and that will lead to more natural traffic.

SEO-proof your URLs

It may not seem that important, but a good idea is to always try to SEO proof your URLs. Not only is this a great way to boost your SEO, but it also makes it more appealing for people to see the word/s they were looking for in a link. Obviously, they will click on it, because you are offering exactly what they are looking for.

One thing is certain; there are multiple methods you can use to increase your website traffic with SEO. All you have to do is to take your time and integrate keywords anywhere you can. Trial and error can come in handy here, and in the end, you will have no problem identifying where you can use your keywords to get the most traffic!
